Mouser Electronics Now Stocking Analog Devices AD5753 Single-Channel DAC with HART Connectivity

Designed to meet the requirements of industrial automation and process control applications, the AD5753 provides robust diagnostic features, with enhancements that include background supply and temperature monitoring and an integrated 12-bit diagnostic analog-to-digital converter (ADC).

The Analog Devices AD5753 DAC, available from Mouser Electronics, delivers a high-precision, fully integrated, single-chip solution for generating a unipolar, bipolar current, or voltage output. The 16-bit device operates from a wide power supply range of -33 V to +33 V, with a maximum operating voltage of 60 V between the two rails. Current or voltage output is available on a single terminal, and the device offers six current output ranges. The AD5753 also enables a Highway Addressable Remote Transducer^® (HART) signal to be coupled on the current output for HART-compliant network connectivity.

Power dissipation on the AD5753 is minimized through the device's on-chip dynamic power control (DPC) functionality by regulating the supply voltage using the complementary buck DC-to-DC converters. The positive and negative DPC enables thermal management capabilities that, when used with the ADP1031 micropower management unit, can deliver up to eight channel-to-channel-isolated channels at less than 2 W. The device's programmable power control (PPC) also enables faster than DPC settling time, which is specified at 15 μs typical. Other features of the AD5753 include two external ADC input pins, a user-programmable offset and gain, an on-chip reference, and a highly robust architecture that incorporates output fault protection from miswire events.

Applications for the AD5753 include process control, actuator control, channel-isolated analog outputs, PLCs, and distributed control systems (DCS) applications. For development, the AD5753 is supported by the EVAL-AD5753SDZ evaluation board, also available from Mouser.
