Texas Instruments TPS54KC23EVM Evaluation Module

Texas Instruments TPS54KC23EVM Evaluation Module is ideal for starting development with the TPS54KC23, a 4V to 16V input, 30A remote-sense synchronous buck converter. The TPS54KC23 utilizes a D-CAP4 control mode for a fast transient response, and by desensitizing the performance dependency on the output voltage level, it improves ease of use. The TPS54KC23 delivers transient response with both high VOUT and low VOUT without changing the application schematic for high VOUT or low VOUT optimization. The device offers an optimized pinout for efficiency and thermal performance. The symmetrical input structure (VIN and PGND pins on both sides of the package) supplies robust EMI performance.

The TI TPS54KC23EVM Evaluation Module includes two stages. The first design (U1) demonstrates the small printed-circuit-board areas that can be accomplished when designing with the TPS54KC23 regulator. The second design (U2) shows the high efficiency that can be achieved when designing with the TPS54KC23 regulator. The second design also includes jumpers that can quickly evaluate the features of the TPS54KC23.

Features

  • Optimized layout for efficiency and thermal performance
  • Switching frequency for U1 stage is 1400kHz; default switching frequency for U2 stage is 800kHz
  • Default output voltage for both U1 and U2 stages is 0.8V
  • U1 stage input voltage is 8V to 16V; U2 stage input voltage is 4.5V to 16V
