Texas Instruments TCAL6416 I²C-bus/SMBus I/O Expander
Texas Instruments TCAL6416 I2C-bus/SMBus I/O Expander allows a general-purpose parallel input/output (I/O) expansion solution for the two-line bidirectional I2C bus (or SMBus) protocol. The TCAL6416 features a 1.08V to 3.6V power supply voltage on the I2C bus side (VCCI) and a power supply voltage ranging from 1.08V to 3.6V on the P-port side (VCCP).The TI TCAL6416 I2C-bus/SMBus I/O expander provides a 100kHz (Standard-mode), 400kHz (Fast-mode), and 1MHz (fast-mode-plus) I2C clock frequencies. The device offers a simple solution when additional I/Os are needed for switches, sensors, push buttons, LEDs, fans, and more.
The TCAL6416 has Agile I/O ports, which include additional features designed to enhance the I/O performance in terms of speed, power consumption, and EMI. Other features on the device are programmable output drive strength, programmable pull-up and pulldown resistors, latchable inputs, maskable interrupt, interrupt status register, and programmable open drain or push-pull outputs.
