onsemi Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) are highly integrated solid-state power switches integrating gate-drive circuitry based on IGBTs or MOSFETs in a single module. IPMs also include protection for power systems from issues such as short circuits, under voltages, and extreme temperatures. IPMs using 600V IGBTs are used in consumer and industrial applications for driving fans, pumps, and compressors. IPMs using 40V and 80V MOSFETs are increasingly used in automotive applications to drive electric fans and pumps.

STK554U392A-E Intelligent Power Module

onsemi STK554U392A-E Intelligent Power Module (IPM) is a highly integrated inverter IPM with high voltage control from HV-DC to 3-phase outputs. This IPM comes in a single small System-In-a-Package (SIP) module. The STK554U392A-E IPM employs an output stage utilizing IGBT/FRD technology and implements Under Voltage Protection (UVP) and Over Current Protection (OCP) with a fault detection output flag. This IPM incorporates internal boost diodes for high-side gate boost drive. The STK554U392A-E IPM features built-in dead time for shoot-through protection.

The NFAx 600V modules consist of a high-voltage driver, six IGBTs, and a thermistor, suitable for driving permanent magnet synchronous (PMSM) motors, brushless-DC (BLDC) motors, and AC asynchronous motors. These 600V modules have a full range of protection functions, including cross-conduction protection, external shutdown, and under-voltage lockout. The over-current protection level can be set using an internal comparator and reference connected to the over-current protection circuit.
